Lunds Art Gallery

Today I took myself on a cultural spin. I went to the art gallery in Lund and visited their current exhibit. The exhibition is a short one, only for three weeks filling out time between bigger exhibits.

The artist Luca Frei, is a young man born in Switzerland but now living in Lund and is working in the Lund/Malmoe-region. He’s gotten education from different schools in different countries.

These are:
1992-1997 CSIA, Lugano, Switzerland
1997-2000 Edinburgh College of Art (BA Hons), Edinburgh
1999 Yale University Summer School of Art, Norfolk, Connecticut
2000-2002 Malmö Art Academy (MFA), Malmö

In Lunds art gallery he had 4 different pieces for show. The first consisted of strips of paper in different lengths placed on the floor, the width of these were the same as the width of the gallery’s walls.

The second piece were 27 boxes painted in white and stapled three and three in the middle of the room. They looked more interesting from above than from the side.

On one of the walls he had a piece in graphite painted directly on the wall. Last but not least was 6 collages in the format 30×30 cm’s. They consisted for example of folded paper in the shape of a human, a poem, and an old interview from 1984 with Michel Foucalt.

All in all it was a very lowkey exhibition and it didn’t really leave me with any thoughts or specific feelings.

At Luca Frei’s homepage you can look at other exhibitions he has done and also read his cv. I recommend taking a look at his homepage where he shows off more interesting pieces of art.
