Green Camp at Roskilde-festival

Saturday, May 24th, 2008 | Media with No Comments »

The Roskilde-festival in Denmark has an area called Green Camp that’s been around since 1998. Already in 1994 the festival begun their environmental-work and they assumed a policy with four programme points.

• Use of resources must be reduced as much as possible
• Environmental friendly products must be used when technically and financially possible, and to the extent that they do not represent any health hazard
• The festival must aim at a maximum level of waste recycling
• Utmost consideration must be paid to security - and the audience’s and volunteers’ health conditions
Green Camp has conditions on the people living there and it’s assumed that you keep your area around your tent clean and that you recycle your waste. They give out red garbage-bags to help with the recycling. The festivals recycling system is also working good and 97% of all the bottles and cans is returned.

The biggest demands are put on the food-stalls which should have an ecological range of food, they should recycle and keep their area clean.

If you want to live on Green Camp during the Roskilde-festival it has many perks compared to rest of the camp. It’s cleaner and you can with good conscience eat and live there. Try a healthier and greener alternative this time you go to Roskilde.

Mudcrutch, the rock band with the wacky name

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008 | Media with No Comments »

mudcrutchThe band which is mostly known by its famous lead, Tom Petty, has been around for awhile now.

First formed in 1970 and transforming through 2 different band-names before landing on the name Mudcrutch they used to play in a local bar as the house-band.
Their first single was released in 1971 and their second in 1975 in which they also disbanded and Petty went on to form Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in ’76.

Tom Petty had a more than decent career during the 80’s and 90’s and has written many classics on his own. You might remember the hits “Free fallin’” and “Learning to fly”.
You might also remember a young actor by the name of Johnny Depp starring in the video for the later of the two.

The second chapter takes place in 2007 when they reunite under Mudcrutch-flag and started recording an album. It was released in April 2008 and contains both old and new songs from their career. Musically their songs match other rock bands such as The Highwaymen and the Traveling Wilburys. Soft rock with a touch of country.

The album has 14 songs ranging from “Scare easy” which gets stuck like a gum, to the beautiful lyrics in “Crystal River”. It’s a wide selection of songs and they’re mostly themed around old country tidbits such as “Orphan of the storm”, “Bootleg flyer” and of course “Topanga cowgirl”.

All in all a good record for those who are country-folk-rock at heart and I’m going to give this record as a present for my mother. Because, why not spread music that have nice lyrics and a good sound?

DC Shoes

By brother absolutely loves DC skate shoes, he refuse to wear anything else! And I have to agree with him, since I’m the one he asks for advice when going shopping, they are very stylish!

If he can’t find the right type of shoes when we are out shopping, he goes online to buy them. I really have to send him the link to BuySkateShoes.com since they have all kinds of skating accessories, from shoes, t-shirts and stickers to backpacks, skateboards and belts.

And let me point out that there are some very nice apparel for girls as well. Also check out the very stylish DC Exopod, nice cover for your iPod!
