The Roskilde-festival in Denmark has an area called Green Camp that’s been around since 1998. Already in 1994 the festival begun their environmental-work and they assumed a policy with four programme points.
• Use of resources must be reduced as much as possible
• Environmental friendly products must be used when technically and financially possible, and to the extent that they do not represent any health hazard
• The festival must aim at a maximum level of waste recycling
• Utmost consideration must be paid to security - and the audience’s and volunteers’ health conditions
Green Camp has conditions on the people living there and it’s assumed that you keep your area around your tent clean and that you recycle your waste. They give out red garbage-bags to help with the recycling. The festivals recycling system is also working good and 97% of all the bottles and cans is returned.
The biggest demands are put on the food-stalls which should have an ecological range of food, they should recycle and keep their area clean.
If you want to live on Green Camp during the Roskilde-festival it has many perks compared to rest of the camp. It’s cleaner and you can with good conscience eat and live there. Try a healthier and greener alternative this time you go to Roskilde.
The band which is mostly known by its famous lead, Tom Petty, has been around for awhile now.
First formed in 1970 and transforming through 2 different band-names before landing on the name Mudcrutch they used to play in a local bar as the house-band.
Their first single was released in 1971 and their second in 1975 in which they also disbanded and Petty went on to form Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in ’76.
Tom Petty had a more than decent career during the 80’s and 90’s and has written many classics on his own. You might remember the hits “Free fallin’” and “Learning to fly”.
You might also remember a young actor by the name of Johnny Depp starring in the video for the later of the two.
The second chapter takes place in 2007 when they reunite under Mudcrutch-flag and started recording an album. It was released in April 2008 and contains both old and new songs from their career. Musically their songs match other rock bands such as The Highwaymen and the Traveling Wilburys. Soft rock with a touch of country.
The album has 14 songs ranging from “Scare easy” which gets stuck like a gum, to the beautiful lyrics in “Crystal River”. It’s a wide selection of songs and they’re mostly themed around old country tidbits such as “Orphan of the storm”, “Bootleg flyer” and of course “Topanga cowgirl”.
All in all a good record for those who are country-folk-rock at heart and I’m going to give this record as a present for my mother. Because, why not spread music that have nice lyrics and a good sound?

I believe there is a new craft-boom in town. Or in this case on the internet.
In the 60’s and 70’s the hype was all about handmade and being eco-friendly and in the 80’s everyone was knitting sweaters.
But this time around it’s also about being creative and expressing yourself.
Nothing is wrong and everything goes are definitively words that buzz the scene. I’ve seen everything from knitting lamp-posts a nice cover to embroidered screen shots from video games. Nostalgia is a thing with us born in the 80’s and reinventing our childhood memories in new techniques are both satisfying and fun!
Knitting and crocheting are happening in cafés and bars, and a embroidery fits well in your purse and can be worked on during bus and train-rides. Why not meet new people with the same interest and start a craft-circle? A great way to learn new things and get to know people at the same time. And you have to be prepared to meet curious people when crafting outside your home and see many raised eyebrows. Why not be a part of the crafting revolution and bring it to people not in the know yet.
On the internet there’s many a’ page for the craftster in us. Namely one of the biggest is indeed http://www.craftster.org, a message board where people can post their creations and admire others and of course get new ideas.
So get your crafting going, Google the internet and make some nice magnets for mom or maybe an embroidered card for dad.
And remember, a home sewn plushie always brings a smile to a child (and yourself).

Today I took myself on a cultural spin. I went to the art gallery in Lund and visited their current exhibit. The exhibition is a short one, only for three weeks filling out time between bigger exhibits.
The artist Luca Frei, is a young man born in Switzerland but now living in Lund and is working in the Lund/Malmoe-region. He’s gotten education from different schools in different countries.
These are:
1992-1997 CSIA, Lugano, Switzerland
1997-2000 Edinburgh College of Art (BA Hons), Edinburgh
1999 Yale University Summer School of Art, Norfolk, Connecticut
2000-2002 Malmö Art Academy (MFA), Malmö
In Lunds art gallery he had 4 different pieces for show. The first consisted of strips of paper in different lengths placed on the floor, the width of these were the same as the width of the gallery’s walls.
The second piece were 27 boxes painted in white and stapled three and three in the middle of the room. They looked more interesting from above than from the side.
On one of the walls he had a piece in graphite painted directly on the wall. Last but not least was 6 collages in the format 30×30 cm’s. They consisted for example of folded paper in the shape of a human, a poem, and an old interview from 1984 with Michel Foucalt.
All in all it was a very lowkey exhibition and it didn’t really leave me with any thoughts or specific feelings.
At Luca Frei’s homepage you can look at other exhibitions he has done and also read his cv. I recommend taking a look at his homepage where he shows off more interesting pieces of art.

I’ve had the new Looptroop album for about one week now. I listen to it daily and put it in my mp3-player as well. The record is titled Good things and is the latest since the 2005 release Fort Europa.
Good things is continuing on the track Looptroop have been on earlier with a mix between political and working class lyrics and a healthy dose of party.
Unfortunately this record is somewhat filled with bleak repeats of their earlier songs. A lot of David&Goliath and long arm of the law is thrown in and is unfortunately not feeling very refreshing.
The song I like best on the record is The Building which also is the first single/video from Good things. It’s about the different classes in the society and misunderstandings between neighbors.
Another song to stand out but not in a good way is a cover of Bon Jovi’s Living on a prayer. It wasn’t good the first time around and I skip it in my playlist every time. Just gives me the chills.
Rome is a song about the city that never sleeps and is generally a smack down on all bad things in life. Another song that kind of stands out is a piece with Timbuktu called Naïve and circles around being bullied.
All in all I don’t think this record has any given hits and it’s much tamer in it’s lyrics than previous releases from Looptroop. It’s not a bad album, just not as interesting.
