Not only was I on time for my appointment, but they made me wait an hour AND I woke up with a migraine this morning.
My doctor evidently still has her dark hair. No greystrikes that I could spot. The woman introduced herself, thankfully and showed me to a rather… messy office. By messy I mean her shelves were not organised at all. Some folders and books where just tossed in there. Right.
So we talk a bit, she takes my blood pressure three times, two on right, one on left arm. She asked about my family history. Any illnesses, does any one else in your family have high blood pressure. “Well, my family is a bunch of temperamental hotheads. My father is a work-a-holic and my mother is on blood pressure medication. So I would say - yes.”
They took some blood samples (ouch, needles), she gave me a prescription for 5mg Maxalt pills, which by the way doesn’t work, and said she wanted me to take a 24 hour blood pressure test. Which evidently means she wants the Hospital to strap a blood pressure machine to me and make me wear it for 24 hours. That’s gonna be fun at night trying to sleep…
She said I most likely would have to be on blood pressure medication as well, but the good news about that part is that it’s Migraine-preventive. If you’re into taking pills that is….

Hmm.. didn’t know you could hook up a blood pressure machine to your body for a 24 hour reading. Interesting. If you don’t think the medication she gave you works - why not ask her for something different?
Because by the time I was able to the weekend had started and the doctor’s office was closed.
I did a 24-hour blood pressure test a few months ago. It entailed me sleeping at the hospital, but I’m not sure if that’s because it was necessary or if the hospital was convinced I would steal their equipment. I’m pretty sure it’s the latter, actually.
