How on earth did I manage…

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 | General |

Okey.. so I’m a member of a Norwegian Cat Forum. It’s a nice forum and everyone is very kind. They’re arranging a meeting in Trondheim and for some God forsaken reason I have signed up for it.

Not only will I be travelling by aeroplane for an hour and a half, but I’ll be lulling around in a city I’ve never been to. Dear God, how did I manage to find myself into this little pickle?

I’m not even sure I want to go….

But this is a social anxiety combined with “new strange place I’ve never been to” thing. Yet I had no problems moving to Denmark alone… I’m weird.

I sort of want to get out of it. Say it collides with something or I can’t afford it. At the same time I really want to go, and I’m really sick of my anxiety getting in the way. I really want to stop being so damn nervous about meeting people and visiting new places on my own…

I don’t know… maybe I’ll manage to chicken out in the last minute or something… It’s not until May 30th. I’ve got plenty of time to whimper out.

oo, you mustn’t chicken out Maja!. Trondheim is an awesome city, with some very social and friendly people. Lived there for 5 years while taking one of my masters at NTNU.
I was truly amazed my first year in the city. The social culture was so totally different from my home town.
So if you get a little lost, just ask the person walking passed you, and I can almost guarantee you will get a very friendly answer.

A good tip, when you take bus from Værnes Airport to Trondheim Central Station and want to head into the city. Just take walk out the front door, go over the bridge, and follow the road upwards until you meet the mainstreet (gågata). Then take a right turn, and you’ll head toward Centrum.

Else, or atleast it was 5-6 years ago, Egon Søndre, a very good place to have a meal. Informal restaurant with very good food and decent prices. (it lies in same street as you walk over the bridge, almost at the top). Or good food at a very very cheap price, Zia Teresa (pasta restaurant).

I hope you take the trip, and hope you have a lot of fun =D

You’ll love it when you’re there and wonder why you were ever nervous. Go on - have fun!
