The lacking of a Sales Instinct

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007 | General |

There are times I’m very grateful my primary job is not about selling, but about helping people with problems or answering questions. Because I’ve realised that that special Sales Instinct that makes people almost willing to sell their own grandma if the right buyer appeared, is just something I don’t have.

I noticed especially yesterday when a girl, in an online group I’m a member of, asked if anyone knew of those cat furnitures for a good price because all the other stores and webshops she had checked out was too expensive for her.

So instead of telling her that I have a webshop for cats as well and don’t have these overpriced tags, I told her I could always order one in for her and sell it to her at factory price. Yes, factory price as in what it would cost me to get in my sales inventory. I make no money off it whatsoever. All I thought about was.. “This I must fix!”

So I think we can easily say, that killer Sales Instinct is truly something I don’t have…

Who knew you could be so nice? *smirk*

I don’t really have a strong Selling Instinct either to be truthful. But come to think of it, I think it might be a good thing I’m not fantastic at selling myself yet :P

I personally HATE having to sell things to people. Makes me glad I’m out of retail…
On the same level, I think more people should be honest with things and not try to make a buck off a person just because they can.
And, where are those vacation pictures? Hm?
