To almost every forum I’ve been a member of there is somewhere somehow a thread on how people really despise “kiddie hosts”. These vile moneygreedy children that are just dying to nail us as their customers to annoy us with their lack of knowledge and experience while robbing us of our money.

But I can say that these kiddie hosts are not the ones you should be worried about. It’s not the ones you should avoid as if life depended on it. Kiddie hosts are truly the least of the problem as they generally never amount to very much and eventually fade away.

The ones you should be worried about are the middle-aged men who’s finally come to realise that you can now make money online by offering them domain registration/transfer and webhosting. These are the ones you should be worried about, because they are the ones who has the money to advertise enough to get the clients. They are the ones who (in my dreamworld) has the writing capabilities (aka good grammar and charm) to sweep you off your feet and make you think that this man you can definitely trust. But you can’t.

I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with another domain registrar and had to explain the following to him;

1) The domain is no longer in our system. It has been moved to you. I don’t give a damn that you’ve “not received an email confirmation that you can remember” just login to your controlpanel and see if you can look the damn domain name up. It’s how we check, why don’t you have the brains to do the same?

2) Yes, I’m quite sure the domain is locked, it says so on the Whois. It means we can’t actually move the domain at all. Yes, I really am quite sure of that. It’s why it says “transfer prohibited”. Would you like an English course with that?

3) Do the following to unlock the domain: [insert explanation] (I’m not kidding. This idiot knows nothing)

So it’s truly not the kiddie hosts you need to worry about. It’s the middle aged man who doesn’t know jack shit.

    You are awfully sexist.

    The web hosting business is huge. There are thousands of companies, and most of them suck or rip you off, you’re right about that.

    But on a side note, why are you so sexist? It seems that in all of your articles you are very hateful towards men in general, whats your problem?

    Awfully stereotypical of you to asume I would be sexist based on an article on how a middle-aged man was incapable of knowing his job.
    Out of the ten latest posts on this blog have no sexist material whatsoever. So how you reached that conclusion is beyond me.

    Lou, am I sleeping with you? No? Then who cares?

    Hmm, ok welll maybe your not sexist, but you are certainly big-headed which in context to this article suggests that you are sexist. Whatever floats you’re boat.

    That aside, its funny to watch you write about things that you obviously have amatuer experience with, such as web hosting, or web design. So you make wordpress templates… BIG DEAL. This makes you a designer, not a developer, and one day you will realize there is a HUGE difference between the two.

    Sorry, I’ve read a few of you’re articles from time to time and they are always the same thing from you: “im better then everyone else about something I know nothing about”

    Let’s see, I work customer support and up against various registrar systems. It is my JOB to know what I’m doing. Which, quite frankly, I know damn good. So I naturally I am horrified when I need to teach a grown man, who’s also our competition, how to do HIS job because he didn’t bother getting into the details of what is required.

    If it is sexist of me to claim that this middle aged man didn’t know his job, so be it. Still don’t see how this affects you in any way.

    I make WP templates. Seriously no big deal. So I make them, I never claimed they were better then anybody elses. Hell, I’m even asking people to pinpoint the mistakes I made in them. How is that “I’m better then everybody else” ?

    I’ve never claimed I was a developer. Please pinpoint exactly where I make such a ridiculous claim. Hell, I’ve never even claimed to be a designer either. I have no designing classes, courses or anything close to an education on the subject and my talent within it is rather mediocre. So why would I claim to be one?

    You = grasping for straws

    I think you’re just bored and want to start some form of ridiculous drama. Can’t say I’m interested, but it was nice of you to stop by =)

    BTW, if you like claiming people are “better then you”, this is where you should be making comments.
    She’s either gonna kill me or laugh her ass off for that one ;)

    “She’s either gonna kill me or laugh her ass off for that one” ..laugh my ass off. I’d like to see anyone try and debate my ego with me, hehe. :p

    IT and the web are sexist industry - it’s all men, men, men.. This is why it brightens my day when I see entries like this - however supposedly sexist - because it puts men like the tosser you were dealing with back in their place.
